This is the show that ‘In a deep trance’ blogged about!

Basically, I had M.I.A’s critically acclaimed Kala album sent to me from her record label and I found a lot of Southern influences and samples in it, unlike in Arular. She used sounds like the Nadhaswaram, Dappankutthu beats, Old Ilayaraja e.t.c. Part of this show was to highlight those bits, while also showing off the beautiful Raga Charukesi in all it’s filmy glory! Here is an interview I did with M.I.A after Arular was released to much pomp and circumstance – Lovely girl!
